Enjoy a Green Experience in Stockholm
As a host and delegate, we have the chance to lead by example. That is why we have taken several steps to reduce the carbon footprint of the Congress and use sustainable solutions as much as possible.
Here are some examples of what we have done to go green:
- Certified Venue: The selected venue, Stockholmsmässan, is a certified partner, and so are its suppliers. This ensures that our event is held in a space that adheres to high sustainability standards.
- Sustainable Transportation: We include a free travel pass to all delegates and encourage them to use public transportation for all travels to and within Stockholm. The public transportation system in Stockholm is powered by batteries, green electricity, or biofuel, ensuring that your travel is as eco-friendly as possible.
- Sustainable Materials: All our material purchases follow the latest sustainability and green choices guidelines. This means we go digital as much as possible, so we only offer an App for your smartphone, not a printed programme.
- Eco-Friendly Accommodations: Our recommended hotels are certified as sustainable options. By staying at these hotels, delegates contribute to the overall sustainability efforts of the Congress.
- Progressive Airport: Many delegates need to travel by airplane, and Arlanda Airport is one of the most progressive in terms of implementing sustainable solutions. This includes measures to reduce emissions and promote eco-friendly practices.
Despite all our efforts, the Congress will still have a carbon footprint. However, we believe that the long-term benefits of the in-person interactions at the Congress, in terms of advancing sustainable forest management and environmental conservation, outweigh the short-term environmental costs of travel.
