Introducing Anne Toppinen as Keynote Speaker

As the Vice Dean of Research at the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Helsinki, and a Professor in forest economics and business since 2008, Anne Toppinen is a leading figure in the field of responsible forest bioeconomy.
Anne’s presentation, titled “Forest Bioeconomy in the Era of Sustainability Transition,” is set to be a thought-provoking exploration of the forest bioeconomy as a dynamic process that harnesses both virgin and recycled bio-based resources to create value within industrial processes. Her keynote will shed light on the evolving landscape of sustainability and its influence on industrial actors and future markets. Anne will delve into the levers of change necessary for the transition towards more sustainable social-ecological systems, particularly at the intersection of bio- and circular economy.
Professor Toppinen’s extensive research interests encompass responsible business management, innovative bio-based business models, and sustainability pathways, with a focus on the resilience of wood-based value networks.
Her distinguished contributions to the field have earned her membership in prestigious organizations, including the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters and the Finnish Research Council of Biosciences, Health, and Environment. Anne also serves as the Coordinator of IUFRO Research Group 5.10.00, dedicated to Forest Products Marketing and Business Management.
