We are delighted to offer you a choice of two captivating Welcome Receptions. Choose your preferred reception and get ready for an evening of memorable experiences!

Reception 1: Stockholmsmässan

Time: 18:00–19:45

Join us at Stockholmsmässan, the venue of the World Congress, for a traditional and engaging welcome event. The reception is open to all delegates.

Welcome Address: IUFRO Executive Director Mr. Alexander Buck and the Dean of the Faculty of Forest Sciences of SLU, Professor Göran Ericson, will warmly welcome our delegates.
Special Guest: Renowned Swedish designer Owe Sandström, famous for designing ABBA’s iconic outfits, will share his fascinating story. This year marks the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s international breakthrough with the song “Waterloo”. Sandström’s creations were pivotal in defining ABBA’s unique style. You will have the chance to enjoy an exhibition of his designs, dance to timeless ABBA tunes, and engage with Sandström as he shares his experiences.
Refreshments: Drinks and snacks will be served during the mingle at the Innovation Stage.
Dress Code: Casual attire is perfect for this event.

Reception 2: Stockholm City Hall

Experience the grandeur of the historic Stockholm City Hall, the venue of the prestigious Nobel Prize Banquet.

Welcome Speech: Vice Mayor of Stockholm City, Sara Stenudd, will greet our delegates.
Reception in the Blue Hall: The reception will be held in the Blue Hall, renowned for its architectural design and the annual Nobel Prize Banquet. This grand space is characterized by its blue color and majestic staircase, providing an atmosphere of elegance and historical importance.
Guided Tour: Stockholm’s Master of Ceremonies will provide insights into the rich history and architecture of the City Hall, designed by the Swedish architect Ragnar Östberg and built between 1911 and 1923.
Refreshments: A light summer buffet and drinks will be served, featuring the traditional Swedish smörgåsbord.
Dress Code: Casual attire is suitable for this occasion.
Event Details:
Start Time: The event starts at 19:00, with doors opening for entry at 18:30.
Entrance: Guests will be welcomed at the grand Entrance at Borgargården.
Limited Tickets: Tickets are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can choose your ticket when you register.
Transportation: You can reach the Stockholm City Hall by public transportation.
By bus: Bus number 3 stops right outside the City Hall. The name of the stop is Stadshuset.
By metro: The two metro stations closest to the City Hall is T-centralen or Rådhuset.

  • If you get off at T-centralen, walk towards Centralstationen and use exit Vasagatan. Walk south along Vasagatan towards Tegelbacken. Turn right underneath the bridge.
  • If you get off at Rådhuset, use exit Hantverkargatan/Stadshuset Turn left on Hantverkargatan.
