The IUFRO World Congress 2024, set to take place in Stockholm this summer, has already set a new benchmark in the Congress’ history with an unprecedented early registration of 3,600 delegates. This remarkable turnout signifies the global forest community’s eagerness and commitment to advancing forest science and sustainability.

Fredrik Ingemarson, the Chair of the Congress Organizing Committee, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are overwhelmed by the record-breaking interest in this year’s Congress. With 3,500 delegates registering early, including an unprecedented 45% women participants, we are gearing up for what promises to be a most vibrant and diverse IUFRO World Congress.”

The 26th IUFRO World Congress is not only attracting a record number of participants but also showcasing a significant gender balance, highlighting the inclusive and progressive nature of the global forest community.

In addition to the impressive delegate registration, the opening and closing ceremonies are nearing full capacity, emphasizing the high level of anticipation and excitement surrounding the event.

“The overwhelming response to our ceremonies and the flood of interest in our pre- and post-congress excursions, with nearly 600 applications for just 200 spots, is truly amazing. We are actively exploring options to expand these excursions to accommodate the demand,” added Ingemarson.

This surge in participation follows the previously reported record high interest in August 2023, with over 5,000 scientific abstracts submitted, underscoring the Congress’s role as a pivotal platform for forest research and dialogue.

The IUFRO World Congress 2024 is poised to be a landmark event, bringing together scientists, researchers, and forest professionals from across the globe to discuss pivotal themes ranging from biodiversity and bioeconomy to forest resilience and sustainable societies.
