The worlds largest congress on forest research is held in Curitiba in Brazil.
In 2019, for the first time Latin America will host a World Congress of the IUFRO (International Union of Forest Research Organizations). This event will take place in Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil (at Expo Unimed), from September 29 to October 5, and will be organized and coordinated by the Brazilian Forest Service (SFB) and EMBRAPA. Approximately three thousand participants are expected at the event, which will discuss various aspects related to forest research.
Exchange experiences in Brazil
The Congress will be a great opportunity to exchange experiences and knowledge on technological innovations, as well as to stay up to date on the latest research findings and trends for the future of forestry and forest research in all areas of the world.
It will also represent a major meeting place for researchers, teachers, students, and professionals in the forestry sector worldwide to come together.
Nordic and Baltic delegations
The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU, have a delegation of 60 people in Curitiba. All together the Nordic and Baltic countries have a substantial number of delegates at the IUFRO World Congress 2019. They are all ambassadors for the coming IUFRO World Congress in Stockholm and will and will be present at the Stockholm 2024 pavilion in the exhibition centre.
The Stockholm 2024 Pavilion
The Stockholm pavilion is a meeting place for both spontaneous calls and scheduled meetings. Delegates are welcome to drive a harvester simulator or to enjoy an environmental friendly model of a 26 storey high-rise building in wood. On top of that the delegates are welcome to join the speakers corner and listen to the latest from the policy dialogue worldwide. Finally, the Nordic and Baltic partners display research platforms and innovations.
