Welcoming Martin Forsén as Keynote Speaker
We are honored to introduce Martin Forsén as a distinguished keynote speaker. As the Chairman of the Board at SilviPar AB, Martin Forsén brings over 21 years of invaluable experience in the global forest sector to the Congress.
In his presentation, titled “Potential of Impact Investing in Forestry – An Example from South America,” Martin Forsén will shed light on the transformative impact of forestry investments, particularly focusing on the South America Impact Forestry Fund in Paraguay. He emphasizes the critical connection between the alleviation of global poverty, the growth of the middle class, and the increasing demand for sustainable consumption. Simultaneously, the escalating emissions from fossil fuels pose a grave threat to our planet. Martin highlights how trees and forest investments can serve as a mitigating force, combating poverty, fostering sustainability, and sequestering carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
Mr. Forsén’s extensive career journey includes serving as the CEO of Burapha Agroforestry, a Swedish-Lao joint venture dedicated to establishing sustainable forest industries with integrated plantations in Lao PDR. Before his role in Laos, he led Domsjö Fiber, a wood- and biofuel procurement company with a substantial annual turnover of US$100 million. Martin has also contributed significantly to the forest industry through various board assignments, currently serving as the Chairman of the Board at SilviPar AB and as a board member of Malwa Forest AB and Burapha AgroForestry.
His academic background includes an MSc in Forestry from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences and an Executive MBA from the Stockholm School of Economics. Martin Forsén’s remarkable contributions to sustainable forestry have earned him the prestigious Guldkvisten award, presented by HM King Carl XVI Gustaf, in recognition of individuals who have made invaluable contributions to the sustainable utilization of forestry resources.
